The Hudson River Food Chain

We went to Beczak Environmental Center tody to learn about the Hudson River Food Chain. We learned that the Eagle pretty much eats what he wants, but especially theStripped Bass. The Stripped Base eats the Atlantic Silverside. The Atlantic Silverside eats Amphipod. Amphipod eats Copepods. Copepods eat Blue-Green Algae. The kids glued pictures of all these creatures on to little cards to creat a card game. Then they split up into teams and played the game. Dakota and I played. I lost. There were lots more kids today than we usually see.

Beczak is a great place for the kids to get together and learn in a fun and exciting way.

Candles

My husband bought me a candle making kit for the holidays. I totally love it. Yesterday I made some Hippie Girl Candles. They smell so good. Patchouli, Geranium, and Ylang Ylang. Two weeks ago I made Cranberry Ice and Amaretto Nog. I think the next ones will be Amish Bakery. I love to burn candles. So I think this may save us some money. At least I hope it will. I should get busy and take some pictures. They are so cute. Oh well, maybe later. I think I'll go make some more now. This is the most sweet smelling addictive hobby I've had so far.

Does Anyone Read This

Just wondering you know. I never get any comments about anything so I was just wondering if anyone ever reads this. Maybe I'm just writing to myself. Oh well. At least I'm doing something.

Turkey

Well I'm finally getting my turkey dinner. I wanted to have my inlaws over for Thanksgiving but my MIL decided that she wanted to cook herself. So I didn't get to make a turkey. Then at Christmas, my SIL and I helped with the meal but my MIL made ham, so no turkey dinner for me. So finally today, I am cooking a turkey. I got a turkey breast so there won't be as much waste. But I will have turkey for dinner and then leftovers for the next few days. I don't mind going to someone else's house for the holidays. But you don't get to eat leftovers when you do that. Now I will have turkey for a week. Yeah!!! I'm making turkey, dressing, mashed potaotes, gravy, rolls, and cranberry sauce. It smells so good baking right now. I can't wait to get to eat it. Probably in another hour. Can't wait.

Happy 2010

Well, it is officially 2010. We made it through another year. There were times this year when I didnt think I would make it through. And there were times during the chemo and all that I wasn't sure I wanted to make it through. It was a miserable nasty year, but I made it through. As we begin an new year I just wanted to take a moment again to thank those wonderful people who did help me make it. I don't know what I would have done without the New Jersey Homeschool Hangout members. I want to take the time to thank you all once again. MaryLee, for all the wonderful meals you arranged. To Mollie and MaryBeth and Alena and Laurel and Elizabeth and everyone else who brought food when I was too sick to make anything. To all those wonderful babysitters who took are of Dakota during all my many many doctor's appointments, Mollie, Laurel, Gabby, Eve, Kate, Elena and all the others. To those who came for play dates or took Dakota out for the day, Eve, MaryLee, Mollie, Audrey, Lelia, and all the others I'm not remembering right now. Your friendship will always be remembered. Thank you Thank you Thank you all so much.

May 2010 be a year filled with happiness and HEALTH and good times for all. But especially may your year be filled with good Friendships.
